How to Oil a Wooden Chopping Board (with Mineral Oil)

1. Clean the board
Hand-wash with warm soapy water, rinse well, and wipe dry

2. Dry completely
Stand the board on its edge and let it dry 12–24 hours. Surface must be fully dry before oiling.

3. Apply oil
Pour a small line of mineral oil and spread a thin, even coat over the top, bottom, edges, and any juice grooves. Work with the grain.

4. Let it soak (20–30 minutes)
If dry spots appear, add a touch more oil to those areas.

5. Wipe off excess
Buff with a clean cloth until the surface feels dry-to-touch (not greasy).

6. Repeat for thirsty boards
After 6–8 hours, apply a second thin coat (and a third for end-grain or very dry timber). Always wipe off excess.

7. Cure overnight
Stand on edge and leave overnight before use.

How to Use Beeswax Wood Polish & Conditioner
  1. Clean the surface
Wipe the wood with a damp cloth to remove dust, crumbs, or residue. Allow to dry completely before polishing.

  2. Apply the polish
Scoop a small amount of polish onto a lint-free cloth or sponge. Rub it into the wood using small circular motions, covering the entire surface, edges, and corners.

  3. Work with the grain
Once spread, massage the polish along the direction of the grain so it penetrates the wood evenly.

  1. Let it absorb (20–30 minutes)
Allow the wood to soak up the conditioner. For very dry timber, apply a second coat after the first has absorbed.

  2. Buff the surface
Use a clean, dry cloth to buff the wood until it feels smooth and has a gentle sheen. The finish should feel nourished, not sticky.

  3. Cure
Leave the item to rest overnight before heavy use (especially for chopping boards or kitchenware).
